Welcome.
Thank you for looking at my web site. My name is Blair Jordan (nickname Buzzz). I am 48 years of age and up until July 2011 have lived in Wanganui, New Zealand. I now live in Bulls, but I get back across to Wanganui as often as I can to work with my hobbies. All my life I have been interested in all things rail related, be it Model Trains or the real thing. My main era I'm interested in is the period I grew up in. Basically from the late 1970's through to the early 1990's, hence why I rather work with or model the early diesels over steam (but I do work with Steam Occasionally). I have railway in my blood with a lot of my family over the years working for the New Zealand Railways.
I have 7 model Railway Layouts (3 under construction and 3 complete) which are all portable. They are as follows: Hornby Dublo 3 Rail 1950's vintage tinplate layout, Hornby & Bachmann OO gauge Thomas the Tank Engine Layout, HO gauge New Zealand Railways layout based on the Waverley Railway Station and Yard, a small HO Christmas layout with lighted houses etc, a NZ120 scale New Zealand layout, N scale Thomas layout and a HO scale one I am building for my nephew. These can be seen at regular Model Rail Exhibitions held over the Nth Island of New Zealand. I also now have a 5 inch gauge (battery electric) loco you can ride behind. See related pages.
I own an ex New Zealand Railways Shunt Locomotive Tr 113 (TMS 465). I am currently restoring this to running condition. I also own Motor Jigger's WW 6701, WW 6893 and 7078, Body of Carriage A 807 and Workman's Hut. I am also a part owner of an ex NZR four wheeled wagon and a Yc Ballast wagon. See related pages.
I am a member of or have been a member of the following groups- Wanganui Model Railway & Engineering Society Inc., SteamRail Wanganui Inc., Waitara Railway Preservation Society Inc., Hawkes Bay Model Engineering Society Inc, New Plymouth Model & Experimental Engineers Inc, Palmerston Model Engineering Club Inc, Silver Stream Railway, Feilding Steam Rail and the New Zealand Railway and locomotive Society Inc. See related pages.
I was (up until July 2011) employed as a truck driver for Carters Wanganui for a enjoyable 8 1/2 years. I have now followed my dreams and started work with KiwiRail. The first 2 years up until July 2013 I worked as a Rail Operator for KiwiRail working around the Manawatu, Wanganui and Wairarapa areas. From July (2013) I attended loco drivers school, passing all the written exams. I then went driving with minder drivers for 12 months. As of November 2014 I passed certified as a Locomotive Engineer (firstly as a Freight driver), which meant I'm now out by myself and loving it. I now cover a area from Wellington to Taumarunui on the North Island main Trunk, to Whareroa on the Marton to New Plymouth line, to Napier on the P Nth to Gisborne Line and as far as Masterton on the Wairarapa line. I have now also passed my Passenger drivers certification. This means I now also drive the Northern Explorer, the Capital Connection and private Excursions on the main line. I'm also certified as a fireman on the Steam Loco's that occasionally run on the main line excursions and in November 2019 I sat my Steam Drivers cert and I just need to follow that up with some on the job training to finish this off. I did have a break from steam for a while after this, due to personal and heath issue's and I also had to get my head around some of the negativity coming my way from a few individuals, both with in work circles and the foamer community. A big thank you to KiwiRail, all my minders, fellow drivers, management and groups who have helped me realise my dream. I would also love to do my railcar ticket when I get a chance. I have now been with KiwiRail for over 11 years.
